We’ve had an extremely busy spring here at Stark Farm. We are just completing the installation of an exclusion netting system covering our entire blueberry field. The netting protects our crop from an invasive fruit fly (spotted wing drosophila). Originally from South East Asia, this pest is becoming a major problem as it infests fruit and destroys crops.
This netting also keeps away a host of other pests that damage fruit throughout the season. This installation allows us to maintain growing organically and never spraying our bushes with pesticides, fungicides or herbicides.
